Its Bigger Than Microaggression

           
              Saying things without actually knowing what your trying to say can hurt people and it can hurt yourself. When you try to compliment someone about something and say it in a way that's not fully polite it seems like your trying to hurt the person. A slight word change can make your sentence seem negative and even though you didn't mean it that way it comes out to everyone that you did. People may think that you are not strong enough to actually say something negative about someone and may call you scared. They may also believe you are a mean and insensitive person who does not care about anyone's feelings but their own.If you are trying to say something you must do it fully and not stutter or change up the words. Compliment someone the best to your abilities so it does not seem like you are making fun of them instead you are complimenting them. Many people nowadays can interpret a sentence word and it may make you seem like the bad guy when you really aren't. Sometimes you have to help people understand the sentence fully by telling them it was a compliment or saying that you didn't mean for it to come out that way.Watching out for what you say is probably the easiest way to keep people off your back when talking, this helps out. Also being proud of what you say will help you because no one will be able to break you down when speaking.    

When Eating Organic Was Totally Uncool

                    Eating organic food is very healthy for you and it can do many wonders for you like improve your immune system and you wont be eating harmful pesticides. When you eat organic food nowadays people usually associate you with a group of people called hipsters which many people look down upon because they are very annoying. I believe eating  organic food is the right thing to do even if you are called a hipster because its way healthier alternative to food with junk in them like pesticides. Organic food is also very much more expensive then regular food but that you should not put a price on your health because that should be your number one priority. If you buy organic food you may spend more but you can try to find spots where you can save money to counter act the fact that you are losing money by buying organic foods. If you look sick and feel sick whats the point of eating bad food with things that you don't know whats in them. Organic can help because nothing wrong is added and you wont feel disgusting when you down a 2nd helping of organic food. Meats are also a very big problem when it comes to eating food in general. Many of the meats produced nowadays is very poorly treated and its mutated with a whole bunch of  additives and its not healthy. People breed cows and chickens who are not hurt and are not feed junk, these animals live a decent life before being eaten by us and at least they are not being treated inhumanly

     This is a story about a daughter and father, who are both confused about their sexual orientation and live with this confusion throughout their lives. They don't know how to handle this and they try to handle it the best way they can. It was a secret they kept to themselves and both came out, the daughter came out first so that gave the father strength to come out as well. This was a very hard decision for both of them because it can alter their lives drastically and can alter it in the worst way possible. They can lose family members or friends because they are not accepting of them anymore. It can be hard for anyone coming out in real life because many people believe we are not ready for same sex marriage or gay and lesbian couples. Others disagree and believe we are ready for this and we would be a better society if we just accept the fact that there are gay and lesbian people throughout the world. We need to understand that we cant choose who we want to be with and our sexual orientation is given to us during birth. We cant judge because of someones sexual orientation instead we should accept this and be kind to one another. It is better to let people live their own lives instead of letting others choose what they have to like and what they have to do in society. Everyone should feel comfortable with coming out and this should not be a stressful thing instead it should be a relief.       

                                 American born Chinese

     American born Chinese is a story about a young boy who is bullied because of his cultural differences in his school. He is one of the only Asian kids in his school, and he is made fun of because of that. he tries to fit in but he cant because no one will accept him and when they do their not really his friends. He starts to feel anger towards other who are different in his school and he feels this way because he wasn't accepted so he felt like he had to return the favor. Bullying is a very big problem in the united states because kids are bullied every day.They can make fun of how you look or even your cultural background. Kids often times may become angry and do very drastic things like hurt others or even hurt themselves and become suicidal. Bullies don't know when to stop because they cant stop they want to feel cool in front of there friends so they are pressured to do something bad to someone else. The boy in the story feels like there is no one their to help him or even guide him to happiness, no one to talk to or even express his feelings. Just because someone is different does not give a person the right o hurt them physically or mentally we should accept diversity. We are one of the most diverse nations in the world and we should be happy that many different people want to live here. Diversity helps us grow as people and brings us closer which is exactly what it should do. Living in the United States should be a peaceful place for anyone from any backgrounds or any different cultural past. this should not even affect us as people but it does because some people are very ignorant.        

The emergence of modern colorism in the Americas

     This is a article about the history of colorism in the Americas, this begins in the 1400s when countries were moving west to find new trade routes east ,but the men had found new land. Colonization had started to begin and many people were starting to pour into the Americas as well as slaves from Africa. The settlers started to mate with the slaves which was extremely frowned upon back then and many of the slaves became pregnant and the babies were half white, half black and the word Mulattos was used to describe the kids. This article was very informative and i liked it because of the historical background and the information given clears things up about history and racism. The change that we as one species have made over time is drastic and it shows how people change there attitude on things like race and love, this shows how we all can co-exist as people.In the past this would not have seemed possible and people would have thought this was disgusting.Some people in this time period also believed that mating with an African or an African American was considered bestiality.If people in the modern period in which we live in now would have acted like this or believed this, they would have been beaten or even killed.Race is still a very big issue in the world today and many people still feel this way but are to scared to say anything because they know its extremely offensive and wrong.This story should give people an idea of how bad of a past that mixed raced people and African people had it back than.Race is only a small difference we have and this should not give people the right to hurt people of other races we should respect others and coexist as one race , the human race.

Class and the politics of writing

     This story overall was not great i did not find any interest while reading this story about writing.The author said " i never really heard anyone from a privileged background talk about self-censorship that emerges from fear that writing certain experiences will lead family and friends to break ties.", but I believe that anyone even from a privileged family can get in trouble for writing experiences without consent from the other person. A bad experience can really hurt someone even if there from an elite background or a poor background it can show a whole different side of a person. I felt like the text was very dry and it was not a good read i found it to be quite boring but understandable.When someone says something about another person in a negative light no matter who it is they will be hurt. Trying to ruin someones reputation is horrible it can completely ruin the person or even hurt them so much they will end up doing harm to themselves. Stories like this should be asked to the person if its okay to write about , writing without permission can destroy a person if the story if bad enough.Like many people say if you don't have something good to say about a person don't say anything at all, this also goes for writing because writing is a form of expression that can be used to help or hurt a person. Even though i didn't like this story it does put out a good message and helps people understand that writing about someone can be bad and disastrous.Writing was also meant for the elites the author talks about but i also disagree, anyone can write not just the elites . Even if people didn't know how to write it is there privilege to write as human beings we all write, we express our thoughts and ideas through writhing throughout time and we will continue to do so.
